The Role
The V&A is undertaking a two-year project to review our stored collections. This includes improving collections documentation, care, and accountability, reorganisation of offsite and onsite storage, and the review of long-term loans.
We are recruiting a fixed-term Collections Storage Officer role, until the 31 March 2028, to form part of a small project team who are undertaking this work, working alongside specialist teams from across the V&A.
The Role
You will carry out collections storage-related activities, across multiple V&A London sites and offsite stores. This will include supervising and working alongside external contractors to undertake object movement and transport as part of storage reorganisation work.
You will undertake object handling and packing, ensuring objects are packed and stored in accordance with collections care standards, and oversee object location control and accountability.
We are looking for someone with experience of practical work with a museum collection or archive, including object handling, and experience of using a collections management system or digital asset management systems. You will need the ability to lift and carry and be comfortable working at height and in a museum stores environment.
Significant interpersonal skills, flexibility to work across sites and travel to offsite stores, and the ability to manage and prioritise multiple tasks are very important for this role.
