About the Role:
Jefferis Engineering Ltd is looking for an experienced Non-Working Mechanical / Pipework Supervisor to join our project teams, across Central London.
Reporting to the Project Manager, your main responsibility will be to take ownership of day-to-day site productivity through effective forward planning, organisation and supervision.
You will ensure work areas are ready before labour is deployed, with the correct drawings, materials, plant, access and information in place so that pipefitters and plumbers can work efficiently with minimal disruption.
This is a non-working supervisory role.
Mechanical Experience:
Applicants should have strong commercial or industrial mechanical services experience, with a good understanding of:
- LTHW and CHW distribution systems, including carbon steel and stainless steel pipework.
- Domestic hot and cold water services.
- Pipework serving AHUs, FCUs, heat pumps and associated mechanical plant.
- Plant room equipment including pumps, valves, strainers, pressurisation units and heat pumps.
- Common pipework installation methods including Victaulic / grooved, press-fit, welded and screwed systems.
- Copper, stainless steel, carbon steel and plastic / HDPE pipework systems.
- Pipe supports, bracketry and installation requirements.
- Flushing, pressure testing and commissioning preparation.
- BMS interface.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and coordinate daily and upcoming mechanical works.
- Ensure work areas are fully prepared before labour is deployed.
- Check drawings, materials, plant, access and information are available in advance.
- Allocate labour effectively and monitor progress and productivity.
- Identify constraints early and resolve or escalate them before they affect the works.
- Coordinate with other trades to minimise clashes and disruption.
- Maintain installation quality and right-first-time standards.
- Manage upcoming material and plant requirements.
- Maintain good site organisation, housekeeping and Health & Safety standards.
- Report progress, productivity, risks and constraints clearly to the Project Manager.
The successful candidate will have:
- Strong mechanical building services experience.
- Previous experience supervising pipefitters and plumbers.
- Good mechanical pipework and plumbing knowledge.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical services drawings.
- Good understanding of installation sequencing.
- Strong forward-planning and organisational skills.
- Experience managing labour productivity.
- The ability to identify problems before they affect progress.
- Good quality-control standards.
- Clear communication and reporting skills.
- A proactive approach and willingness to take ownership.
Qualifications:
Essential:
- Relevant plumbing, pipefitting or mechanical services background.
- SSSTS as a minimum.
- Appropriate CSCS / JIB card.
Desirable:
- SMSTS
- First Aid at Work
- Water Regulations
- Unvented Hot Water
- PASMA
- Asbestos Awareness
