Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Warehouse Operative to join our dynamic logistics team. This role involves supporting the efficient handling, storage, and movement of goods within our warehouse environment. The successful candidate will play a vital part in maintaining smooth warehouse operations, ensuring products are accurately picked, packed, loaded, and received in accordance with company standards. Prior warehouse experience and mechanical knowledge are advantageous, but full training will be provided for the right candidate. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop skills in materials handling and warehouse management systems.
Duties
- Handling materials efficiently and safely using appropriate equipment such as forklifts
- Loading and unloading lorries with heavy or bulky items
- Picking and packing orders accurately to meet customer specifications
- Stocking shelves and ensuring inventory levels are maintained and organised
- Operating warehouse management systems to track stock movements and update records
- Assisting with shipping and receiving processes to ensure timely dispatches and deliveries
- Conducting quality control checks to verify product integrity and compliance with standards
- Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe working environment at all times
- Performing mechanical tasks related to warehouse equipment maintenance when required
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a warehouse environment is preferred but not essential; training will be provided
- Knowledge of materials handling techniques and forklift operation is advantageous
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) is desirable
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently
- Mechanical aptitude or basic mechanical knowledge is a plus
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail for stock accuracy
- Good physical fitness to handle manual tasks throughout the shift
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
