Senior Support Worker
Alnwick, Northumberland
£14.70 per hour + benefits
Ready to take the next step in your care career?
Are you an experienced Support Worker who is ready to take on more responsibility?
Do you want to continue making a difference to the people you support while developing your leadership skills and helping your colleagues provide the best possible care?
If so, we would love to hear from you.
At Time to Care Specialist Support Services, our Senior Support Workers play an important role in ensuring the people we support receive safe, consistent and genuinely person-centred support.
You'll remain hands-on and involved in the lives of the people we support, while taking on additional responsibilities that help maintain high standards across the service.
This is an opportunity to take the next step — without losing the part of care that matters most: the people.
Make a difference — and help your team do the same.
At Time to Care, we believe that everyone should have the opportunity to live a full, active and meaningful life.
Our Senior Support Workers help make that possible.
You'll build meaningful relationships with the people we support, understand their individual needs and preferences, and help ensure their support is centred around their choices, goals and wellbeing.
You'll also become an important source of support for your colleagues.
Whether that's helping a new member of staff understand their role, providing guidance when someone is unsure, identifying when something isn't working or helping the team find a better way forward, you'll be someone others can rely on.
We want Seniors who lead by example.
You don't need to have all the answers.
What matters is that you're hard-working, approachable, willing to learn and confident enough to recognise when something needs to change.
Most importantly, you'll always put the needs of the people we support first.
What will you be responsible for?
As a Senior Support Worker, you'll continue to provide person-centred support while taking on additional responsibilities across the service.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting people to live independently and have a full and meaningful life
- Building positive, respectful relationships with the people we support
- Supporting new members of staff and helping them develop confidence in their role
- Providing guidance and encouragement to colleagues
- Supporting effective staff allocation within shifts
- Completing and supporting effective handovers
- Administering medication in line with individual support plans and company procedures
- Auditing and checking MAR charts and medication records
- Supporting and contributing to care plan reviews
- Participating in service-user reviews
- Completing and reviewing relevant documentation
- Supporting the completion and review of risk assessments
- Carrying out relevant audits and checks
- Completing and reporting incidents appropriately
- Acting as a key worker where required
- Supporting people to attend appointments and access the wider community
- Monitoring the health, wellbeing and safety of the people we support
- Identifying when current approaches or arrangements are not working effectively
- Raising concerns and escalating issues appropriately
- Promoting safeguarding, dignity, choice and independence
- Ensuring company policies, procedures and guidance are followed
- Working closely with Managers, Team Leaders, Support Workers and Care Coordinators
- Helping maintain high standards of care and support across the service
You'll have responsibility — but you'll also have support.
A Senior team that works together
We understand that taking on additional responsibility can be challenging.
That's why our Seniors are supported by Managers, Team Leaders, other experienced staff and our Head Office team.
Our culture is built around communication, teamwork and encouragement.
If someone doesn't know something, we don't believe they should be made to feel uncomfortable for asking.
We help them learn.
We encourage our Senior Support Workers to do the same.
We also provide regular opportunities for staff to communicate, reflect and raise concerns, including:
- Monthly team meetings
- Staff support sessions every two weeks
- Regular supervision
- Ongoing communication with Managers and Team Leaders
- Support from Head Office when required
- Communication with Care Coordinators around operational matters
And if something isn't working, we don't expect you to wait for the next meeting.
We want you to speak up.
As a Senior, you'll play an important role in identifying problems early, communicating effectively and helping find positive solutions.
