Punch Press Operator
Location: Ashton-under-Lyne
Salary: £13.69–£14.25 per hour, depending on experience + 20% shift premium
Hours: 37 hours per week
Shift Pattern: Continental – 4 Days On / 4 Days Off, 7:00am–7:00pm
Breaks: 2 x 45-minute paid breaks
The Opportunity
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Punch Press Operator to join a busy and established manufacturing operation in Ashton-under-Lyne.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone with experience operating CNC punch press machinery within a sheet metal or manufacturing environment. Experience with Trumpf and/or Salvagnini machines would be particularly advantageous.
You will be responsible for setting up and operating machinery, producing components to specification and maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC punch press machinery.
- Load and adjust tooling as required.
- Operate Trumpf and/or Salvagnini punching machines.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Carry out quality checks throughout production.
- Identify and resolve minor machine issues.
- Complete production and quality records accurately.
- Carry out routine machine checks and basic maintenance.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.
- Work to production targets while maintaining quality standards.
- Follow all company health, safety and quality procedures.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Previous experience operating CNC punch press machinery.
- Manufacturing or sheet metal experience.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
- Good attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Strong understanding of health and safety.
- Reliable, proactive and able to work as part of a team.
Desirable:
- Experience with Trumpf and/or Salvagnini machines.
- CNC machine setup and programming experience.
- FLT or overhead crane certification.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.
