Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Postnatal Midwife to provide specialised care to mothers and their newborns during the critical postnatal period. The successful candidate will work closely with families to support recovery, promote breastfeeding, and ensure the wellbeing of both mother and baby. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference during a pivotal time in families’ lives, requiring excellent communication, organisational skills, and clinical expertise.
Availability
Ideally we would like for you to be available for flexible work on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday especially (you can also be available on other days). We have a limited number of midwives who are available on these days and are looking to fill the gaps.
Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive postnatal care to mothers and infants in hospital or community settings
- Monitor and assess the physical and emotional wellbeing of new mothers and their babies
- Provide guidance on breastfeeding, infant care, and maternal health practices
- Offer emotional support and counselling to new mothers experiencing challenges or concerns
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop personalised care plans
- Educate families on postnatal recovery, infant development, and health maintenance
- Maintain accurate documentation of care provided using IT systems
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and infection control protocols
- Support families in recognising warning signs that require medical attention
Experience
- Proven experience in nursing or midwifery, with a focus on postnatal care preferred
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage with patients and their families
- Proficiency in IT systems for record keeping and reporting purposes
- Excellent time management skills to prioritise tasks efficiently in a dynamic environment
- Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams while maintaining a compassionate approach
