Accounts Senior (Contractor)
Location: Flexible / Hybrid (UK-based)
Contract Type: Day Rate Contract (Outside IR35 where applicable)
Rate: £250 - £350 per day (Dependent on Experience)
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Accounts Senior to join our growing accounts team on a contract basis. This role is ideal for a self-employed accountant or independent contractor looking for flexible, ongoing work within a friendly and progressive accountancy practice.
You will be responsible for preparing and reviewing statutory accounts for a broad portfolio of owner-managed businesses, sole traders and partnerships, while supporting junior team members and ensuring work is completed to a high technical standard.
The role offers a varied workload with the opportunity to become an integral part of our team while maintaining the flexibility of contract work.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review statutory accounts for limited companies, sole traders and partnerships
- Prepare management accounts where required
- Review work prepared by junior team members, providing constructive feedback and technical guidance
- Prepare and review corporation tax computations and returns
- Liaise directly with clients to obtain information and resolve queries
- Ensure assignments are completed accurately and within agreed deadlines
- Identify opportunities to improve internal processes and enhance client service
- Work collaboratively with the tax team on assignments requiring both accounting and tax input
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of UK accounting standards and compliance requirements
Requirements
- Significant experience working within a UK accountancy practice
- Strong technical knowledge of statutory accounts preparation
- Experience preparing accounts under FRS 102 and FRS 105
- Good working knowledge of Corporation Tax compliance
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Strong communication skills with a client-focused approach
- Ability to work independently while integrating with an established team
Desirable
- ACA or ACCA qualified, or qualified by experience
- Experience using CCH Accounts Production and CCH Central
- Familiarity with cloud accounting software, including QuickBooks and Xero
