Job Summary
Lench’s Trust has been caring for the older people of Birmingham who are in need for over 500 years – throughout this, the Trust provide shelter accommodation throughout the city and surrounding areas for more than 200 people.
In this role as Cook, you will play a key role in preparing, cooking and presenting high quality dishes while maintaining excellent standards of food hygiene, safety and customer service. This role will also include assisting with the day-to-day operations of the kitchen, contributing in menu preparation and supporting events catering activities as required.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook, and serve meals to a high standard
- Maintain excellent food hygiene, cleanliness, and health & safety practices
- Ensure food is stored, labelled, and rotated correctly
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and report faults when required
- Complete food safety checks and maintain accurate records
- Support stock control, ordering, and reducing food waste
- Work as part of the wider catering team, including occasional evenings, weekends, and Bank Holidays
Requirements
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or kitchen operations within a restaurant or similar setting
- Strong knowledge of culinary techniques and food safety standards
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
- Prior experience with meal preparation, serving, or related roles is highly desirable
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- A genuine passion for food and creating enjoyable dining experiences
Pay: £13.35 per hour
