This is a crucial leadership role, providing high‑quality, child‑centred residential short breaks and ensuring services consistently meet Ofsted standards. The successful candidate will be educated to NVQ Level 5 or equivalent and bring substantial management experience, alongside strong knowledge and a genuine commitment to working with disabled children, young people and their parents/carers. You will be able to demonstrate a proven track record of delivering safe, effective and compassionate residential care, or relevant transferable experience.
This role offers an opportunity to make a real difference, lead dedicated teams, and shape high‑quality services that positively impact children and families.
The Registered Manager holds overall operational responsibility for delivering a high‑quality short breaks service within one of the Trust’s residential settings. You will be required to register with Ofsted as the Registered Manager, in line with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, following successful completion of the Fit Person interview.
You will provide strong, visible leadership to your staff team, fostering a positive and inclusive culture that supports excellent care and continuous improvement. A key focus of the role is ensuring children and young people attending the service have access to a wide range of meaningful and enriching activities, while consistently achieving positive outcomes and strong Ofsted inspection results for disabled children and young people in your care.
The post holder will oversee the care and support of children and young people with complex healthcare needs, learning disabilities and/or life‑limiting conditions that significantly impact daily living. Working closely with an Operational Lead and a multidisciplinary clinical team, care will be delivered following individual assessments of need, on a planned basis. You will also be responsible for the management, development and supervision of a staff team of approximately 15–25 colleagues, ensuring safe staffing, high standards of practice and ongoing professional development.
