PROBATE SOLICITOR

Job Summary
Alwena Jones & Bright Ltd is seeking a qualified Solicitor with experience in probate and estate administration to join our friendly and busy team.
The successful candidate will manage a varied caseload of probate matters, providing clear and compassionate legal advice to clients and ensuring that matters are progressed efficiently and in accordance with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
This is an excellent opportunity for a capable and organised Solicitor looking for a flexible role within a supportive and collaborative firm. The role can be undertaken fully remotely, although hybrid and office-based working options are also available.
What We Offer

- Salary: £35,000–£50,000 FTE, pro rata, depending on experience

Essential Requirements
- Qualified Solicitor in England and Wales
- Experience in probate and estate administration
- Ability to manage a caseload effectively, with appropriate support where required
- Strong organisational, communication and client-care skills
We welcome applications from Solicitors at different stages of their careers. A specific level of post-qualification experience is not required, provided the applicant has relevant probate experience and can demonstrate the practical knowledge and ability required for the role.
Desirable – Not Essential
- Experience in wills, trusts, lasting powers of attorney or Court of Protection matters
- Experience dealing with taxable or complex estates
- Knowledge of other private client practice areas
Responsibilities
- Managing a varied caseload of probate and estate administration matters
- Advising executors, administrators and beneficiaries throughout the estate administration process
- Preparing applications for Grants of Probate and Letters of Administration
- Collecting and reviewing information relating to estate assets and liabilities
- Preparing estate accounts and arranging distributions to beneficiaries
- Corresponding with HMRC, financial institutions, beneficiaries and other relevant parties
- Providing clear and sensitive advice to clients throughout each matter
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant legal, regulatory and professional requirements
- Maintaining accurate file records and ensuring matters are progressed efficiently
- Supporting colleagues and contributing to the continued development of the department where appropriate
Experience and Skills
The ideal candidate will have practical experience in probate and estate administration and will be comfortable managing matters from initial instruction through to completion.
You will be organised, approachable and able to communicate clearly and sensitively with clients. You should have strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines while maintaining a high standard of client care.
