Client Manager / Practice Accountant
Salary: Competitive (DOE) + Bonus
Location: Office-based (with flexibility available after probation)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm (4:00pm finish every Friday)

Are you an experienced Practice Accountant or Client Manager looking for your next opportunity? With a turnover of approximately £800k and a diverse portfolio of more than 400 limited company clients, alongside sole traders, partnerships, charities and not-for-profit organisations, this is an exciting opportunity to build a long-term career within a modern practice that embraces technology and values its people.
The Role
You'll manage your own portfolio of clients, delivering a broad range of accounting and advisory services while building strong, lasting client relationships.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing statutory accounts for limited companies, sole traders and partnerships
- Preparing personal tax returns
- Completing VAT returns and ensuring Making Tax Digital compliance
- Managing client relationships and providing day-to-day accounting advice
- Working collaboratively with colleagues to deliver an outstanding client experience
- Supporting clients with cloud accounting software and improving efficiencies
This is a varied general practice role with minimal involvement in payroll or bookkeeping, allowing you to focus on higher-value client work.
About You
We're looking for someone who has:
- At least 3-4 years' experience working within an accountancy practice
- AAT qualification as a minimum (part-qualified or qualified ACA/ACCA candidates are also encouraged to apply)
- Experience preparing statutory accounts, VAT returns and personal tax returns
- Knowledge of IRIS and Xero (preferred)
- Excellent communication, organisation and client management skills
- A proactive, positive and professional approach

About the Practice
Our client is committed to providing a modern, technology-led accounting service and has invested significantly in cloud-based systems and efficient working practices.
They currently use:
- IRIS for accounts production
- Xero as their primary cloud accounting platform
- Sage Payroll for payroll processing
Their client base spans the UK, with many meetings carried out virtually.
You'll be joining an experienced and supportive team consisting of:
- Practice Manager
- 4 Client Managers
- 4 Accounts Professionals
- 2 Payroll Specialists (one also supports bookkeeping)
