The Lobster Pot is an independent seafood restaurant overlooking the Firth of Forth in the historic village of Blackness.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Chef de Partie to join our close-knit kitchen team. This is an excellent opportunity for a chef who enjoys working with quality ingredients, takes pride in their craft, and wants to be part of a growing independent business.
In the Role as Chef de Partie, you will work closely with the Head Chef to deliver consistently high standards during service. You will be a flexible, all-rounder who is comfortable working across every section of the kitchen, helping maintain an organised and efficient operation while ensuring every dish leaving the pass reflects the standards of The Lobster Pot.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook dishes to consistently high standards across all sections of the kitchen.
- Work flexibly wherever needed during service.
- Ensure all food is prepared in accordance with recipes, specifications and presentation standards.
- Assist with daily preparation, mise en place and service.
- Support stock rotation, ordering and waste control.
- Maintain excellent food hygiene and health & safety standards.
- Help train and support Commis Chefs and Kitchen Assistants where required.
- Contribute ideas for seasonal specials and menu development.
- Work collaboratively to maintain a positive and professional kitchen environment.
- Assist with cleaning schedules and ensure the kitchen is left ready for the following service.
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience as a Chef de Partie or an experienced Commis Chef ready for the next step.
- Ability and willingness to work flexibly across all kitchen sections.
- Passion for fresh, seasonal produce, particularly seafood.
- Calm and organised under pressure.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in presentation.
- Reliable, punctual and hardworking.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Good understanding of food safety and HACCP procedures.
- Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 or above desirable).

Working Hours
Full-time, permanent.
Includes evenings, weekends and public holidays on a rota basis.
Typical working week: 40–45 hours over 4 or 5 days.
