Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Psychologist to join our Isle of Wight Community Mental Health Team, and support with the delivery of high quality psychology provision within the service.
The team provides a service for adults with a range of complex mental health problems. Psychological therapies provide a range of interventions, including both individual and group based work.
In this role you will work as an applied practitioner under clinical supervision of the Clinical Psychologist, contributing to assessment and intervention plans for service users. You will contribute to supporting the wider CMHT through involvement in group work, training workshops, team audits and service development projects.
In addition, you will assist in managing waiting lists and maintaining regular contact with people waiting for psychological therapies.

Main duties, tasks & skills required
To assist in the provision of a psychological service to service users accessing the community mental health team under the supervision of a Clinical Psychologist.
To plan and prioritise of own workload and activities following the direction, guidelines and supervision of the Clinical Psychologist.
To undertake assessments and implement programmes of care and psychology intervention, including one to one work with clients, group interventions and psycho-educational workshops under clinical supervision.
To work within the guidelines given by the clinical supervisor and assist in clinically related administration, conduct of audits, collection of statistics, development of audit/research projects and teaching projects as directed by the Clinical Psychologist.

Essential
An upper second class honours degree or higher in Psychology.
Entitlement to graduate membership of the British Psychological Society.
Prior experience as an assistant psychologist, a research assistant or as an HCA or equivalent in mental health is desirable.
Knowledge of IT systems, research design and methodology.
Full driving licence.
