Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Nursery Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting our Nursery Head Chef with the busy running of the kitchen and preparation of healthy, nutritious meals for our little ones. This position involves assisting with daily food preparation, cleaning, allergy maintenance and ensuring the highest standards of food safety are maintained.
Duties
- Assist in the preparation and serving of meals and snacks, ensuring adherence to food safety guidelines.
- Support Nursery Head Chef with successfully delivering our balanced, seasonal menus.
- Support the lead nursery staff in creating a welcoming and engaging atmosphere for children.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness within the kitchen, keeping the work space immaculate.
- Maintaining organisation of stock and supporting the nursery chef with stock rotation.
- Running and covering the nursery chef when absent.
- Management and awareness of allergies and dietary requirements.
- Assist with basic catering tasks during special events or functions as required.
Person Specification
- Previous experience in a nursery or childcare setting is preferred but not essential.
- Knowledge of food preparation and safety practices is highly desirable.
- A background in catering, culinary arts, or restaurant experience would be advantageous.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team environment.
- A genuine passion for working with children and supporting their growth and development.
- Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
- Must have a full clean driving license.
