Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable handyman and gardener to assist Whitminster House Estate for between two to four days per week (depending on skillset and occupancy). The ideal candidate will possess a diverse range of maintenance and landscaping skills and have a proactive approach to problem-solving. This role involves performing various repair, gardening and landscaping tasks in rural holiday cottages, commercial property, ensuring that all work is completed to a high standard.
Duties
- Carry out general repairs and maintenance tasks such as carpentry and decorating.
- Assist the other gardener in the management of the grounds such as strimming, weeding and pruning.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from management.
- Conduct routine inspections of properties to identify any issues that require attention and materials required.
- Ensure all tools and equipment are maintained in good working order.
- Collaborate with other team members and tradespeople as necessary for larger projects.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations at all times while on the job site.
Requirements
- Proven job experience in both garden and maintenance work.
- Strong knowledge of various repair techniques and tools as well as the ability to 'think on their feet.'
- Knowledge of common UK flora as well as when and how to manage them.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well on their own as well as with other team members.
- Physical stamina and strength to perform manual tasks as required.
- Appropriate PPE, clothing and waterproofs for outdoor and maintenance work.
- Personal business insurance for maintenance and gardening.
- A valid and clean UK driving licence.
The Ideal Candidate will have:
- Certification in relevant areas such as plumbing, working at height and chainsaw safety.
- Experience working with both rural and heritage properties.
