Vehicle Recovery Sales & Dispatch Advisor
4 On / 4 Off | 9:00am–9:00pm | Basic Salary + Commission
We are looking for a confident, driven and commercially minded Sales & Dispatch Advisor to join our busy vehicle recovery operation.
This is a combined sales, customer service and vehicle recovery dispatch role, with a strong focus on winning business and converting enquiries into bookings.
We need someone who is confident on the telephone, comfortable discussing prices, able to handle objections and knows how to close a sale.
You will also be responsible for booking and dispatching vehicle recovery jobs, so good geographical knowledge and a strong understanding of motor vehicles are important.
Shift Pattern
- 4 days on, 4 days off
- 9:00am – 9:00pm
- 12-hour day shifts
- The rota includes weekends and bank holidays when they fall on your scheduled working days.
Salary & Commission
Basic Salary + Sales Commission
This is a performance-driven role. We want someone who is motivated by sales and wants the opportunity to increase their earnings through commission.
The more business you successfully convert and generate, the greater your earning potential.
Sales Responsibilities
A major part of this position is turning enquiries into paying recovery jobs.
You will:
- Handle incoming vehicle recovery and transportation enquiries.
- Provide customers with quotations.
- Convert quotes into confirmed bookings.
- Confidently ask customers for the business.
- Handle price objections and negotiate where appropriate.
- Explain the benefits and value of our service.
- Upsell additional services where appropriate.
- Follow up quotations that haven't converted.
- Make outbound sales calls to generate additional work.
- Contact previous and existing customers to generate repeat business.
- Build relationships with garages, dealerships, bodyshops, motor traders, fleet operators and other trade customers.
- Work towards sales and conversion targets.
We Want a Salesperson – Not an Order Taker
We are looking for someone who is comfortable closing sales over the telephone.
If a customer asks for a price, we don't simply want someone to give them a quote and wait for the phone to ring again.
We want someone who will build rapport, understand what the customer needs, explain the service, overcome objections and ask for the booking.
Vehicle Recovery & Dispatch
Alongside sales, you will help manage the day-to-day recovery operation.
Responsibilities include:
- Booking recovery jobs accurately.
- Controlling and communicating with recovery drivers.
- Dispatching jobs to the most suitable driver.
- Matching the correct recovery vehicle to each job.
- Monitoring live collections and recoveries.
- Keeping customers updated.
- Planning jobs efficiently around driver location and availability.
- Managing urgent and changing situations.
- Helping maximise driver and recovery vehicle utilisation.
Motor Vehicle Knowledge
A good understanding of motor vehicles is important for this position.
You should be comfortable discussing different types of vehicles and understanding how their condition can affect a recovery.
Knowledge should ideally include:
- Cars and vans.
- Light commercial vehicles.
- Manual and automatic vehicles.
- Electric and hybrid vehicles.
- 4x4 and all-wheel-drive vehicles.
- Non-running vehicles.
- Accident-damaged vehicles.
- Vehicles with locked wheels or steering.
- Low or difficult-to-load vehicles.
- Different types of recovery vehicles and their capabilities.
You need to be able to ask customers the right questions so that we understand the recovery requirements and send the correct vehicle first time.
Geographical Knowledge
Good UK geographical knowledge is important.
You should be comfortable understanding locations, routes and distances so you can make sensible decisions when quoting, booking and dispatching recovery jobs.
What We're Looking For
We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in:
- Telephone sales
- Vehicle recovery
- Breakdown assistance
- Recovery control or dispatch
- Motor trade
- Transport or logistics
- Customer service with sales targets
Previous vehicle recovery experience would be an advantage, but strong telephone sales ability is particularly important.
The right person will be:
- Confident and persuasive on the telephone.
- Sales driven and motivated by commission.
- Comfortable asking for the sale.
- Good at handling objections.
- Commercially aware.
- Confident dealing with customers and drivers.
- Knowledgeable about motor vehicles.
- Good with UK geography.
- Able to multitask in a busy environment.
- Calm under pressure.
- Organised and reliable.
- Comfortable using computer booking and dispatch systems.
- Able to work the full 4 on / 4 off, 9:00am–9:00pm shift pattern.
