Health & Safety Advisor/Consultant
£17.31 – £22.00 per hour D.O.E | 32–38 hours per week | Flexible Hybrid Working
Based in Shropshire | Travelling to customer sites across England & Wales with occasional overnight travel
We’re growing, and this is a great opportunity to join us at an exciting time.
Want a Health & Safety role where you're trusted to use your professional judgement?
Are you an experienced H&S professional who would rather get out on site, talk to people and solve real-world problems than spend your entire working week behind a desk?
We're looking for a confident, practical Health & Safety Advisor/Consultant to join our friendly, family-run business. This is a varied role where you'll work with agricultural and similar businesses, helping them manage risk, improve their Health & Safety arrangements and find sensible, practical solutions that work in the real world.
You won't simply be producing paperwork. You'll be visiting workplaces, talking to people at all levels, identifying risks and using your professional knowledge to make a genuine difference.
We believe effective Health & Safety should work in practice, not just sit in a folder.
What makes this role different?
· Home-based with the flexibility to spend at least one day a week in the office but the freedom to work from the office more often if preferred
· Regular visits to interesting agricultural and similar customer sites
· 32–38 hours per week with flexibility
· Variety rather than doing the same thing every day
· Independence and responsibility
· Friendly, supportive family-run business
· The opportunity to build long-term customer relationships
· A role where your professional judgement is valued
· The opportunity to be part of a growing business and play a key role in its continued development
What you'll be doing
· You'll work with customers across agricultural, engineering and construction environments & similar.
Your responsibilities will include:
· Providing practical Health & Safety advice to customers
· Visiting customer sites
· Carrying out inspections, audits and risk assessments
· Identifying hazards and recommending proportionate, practical control measures
· Advising customers on improving their Health & Safety arrangements
· Preparing reports, risk assessments and other necessary documentation
· Carrying out staff training including Induction training
· Helping customers meet their Health & Safety responsibilities
· Building positive and professional relationships with customers
· Managing your own workload, appointments and site visits
· Keeping your knowledge of relevant Health & Safety legislation and guidance up to date
About you
We're looking for someone with:
· Solid professional Health & Safety experience
· NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent Level 5 Health & Safety qualification as a minimum
· Practical experience or a strong working knowledge of Health & Safety within Agricultural & similar environments
· A practical, proactive and common-sense approach
· Strong people skills, with the confidence to communicate effectively with a wide range of people in different workplace environments
· Good report-writing and organisational skills
· The ability to work independently and manage your own workload
· Flexibility to travel to customer sites across England & Wales and stay overnight where necessary
· Experience in engineering, manufacturing or other similar environments would be an advantage.
We're particularly interested in someone who can combine sound professional knowledge with practical judgement and good people skills and a down to earth approach.
Why join us?
We're a growing family-run business, not a large corporate organisation. That means you'll know the people you work with, have a direct impact on the business and be trusted to get on with your role.
As we continue to grow this is a great opportunity to be part of that journey and play an important role in our continued development.
We believe in common sense, flexibility, professionalism, and treating people properly.
If you want a role where you're able to use your experience, make decisions, work directly with customers, and actually see the difference your advice makes, this could be the opportunity you're looking for.
