About Us: Advance Social Care is excited to announce new and rewarding positions for those looking to create a lasting difference in the lives of young people aged 16 and over. Our focus is on supporting young people who are transitioning into adulthood and supporting unaccompanied asylum-seeking children (UASC). We are committed to nurturing these young people, empowering them to live as independently as possible.
What We Do: As a specialist service, we provide supported accommodation, to young people who are on a journey to becoming independent young adults.
Key Responsibilities of the Role but not limited to:
As a vital member of our team, your role will encompass a variety of responsibilities aimed at supporting and empowering young people. Here’s what you can expect:
- Daily Living Support: Assist young people with their daily living needs within their homes, ensuring they feel comfortable and secure in their environment.
- Independent Living Programme: Creatively implement our independent living programme, working closely with young people to develop essential life skills and promote self-sufficiency.
- Multi-Agency Collaboration: Collaborate with multi-agency services and staff to enhance the skills and abilities of each young person, fostering a supportive network around them.
- Advocacy and Safeguarding: Promote the rights and interests of all young people, ensuring their safety and protection from harm. Uphold the highest standards of safeguarding while encouraging independence and the development of life skills.
- Activity Support: Identify and support young people in engaging activities and voluntary options that are beneficial and stimulating for their personal development and future prospects.
- Assistance with Applications: Help young people complete various forms, including benefit applications, college enrolment, and job applications, ensuring they have the resources they need to succeed.
Our Ideal Support Worker Will:
We are looking for a dedicated support worker who embodies the following qualities and skills:
- Self-Motivation and Initiative: Demonstrate a high level of self-motivation and initiative to inspire and empower young people in their journey towards independence.
- Practical Guidance: Provide valuable advice, guidance, and hands-on demonstrations in essential life skills, including budgeting, cooking, cleaning, laundry, CV writing, interview skills, personal safety, managing accommodation, and tenancy training.
- Reliability and Compassion: Be a reliable, friendly, and caring individual who is committed to helping our service users achieve their everyday goals, including personal care and daily living tasks.
- Activity Support: Support in-house activities and hobbies, encouraging young people to engage in interests that promote their well-being and personal development.
- Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with an experienced and friendly team of colleagues, fostering a supportive environment that enhances the care we provide.
Essential Requirements for the Role:
To be considered for this rewarding position, candidates must meet the following essential requirements:
- Enhanced DBS Check: Successful applicants will be subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check to ensure the safety and well-being of the young people we support.
- Valid UK Driving License: A valid UK driving license is required, along with access to your own vehicle for business use, enabling you to travel to various locations as needed.
- Relevant Experience: Candidates should possess relevant and/or transferable experience working with individuals in need of care. This experience is crucial for effectively supporting our young people, Level 2 & 3 in social care is a plus.
- Eligibility to Work in the UK: We can only accept applications from candidates who are located in and eligible to work within the UK.
