The Role
We are looking for a skilled and versatile Sous Chef to work across all sections of our kitchen. You will support the Head Chef and be confident working across pasta, meat, fish, and grill — cooking authentic Italian dishes to a consistently high standard throughout busy service.
Key Responsibilities
- Work across multiple sections including pasta, meat, fish, and grill as required
- Carry out all prep duties thoroughly and to standard before every service — no exceptions
- Prepare and cook authentic Italian dishes to a high and consistent standard throughout service
- Support the Head Chef during service and step up in their absence
- Ensure the kitchen is fully prepped and service-ready at all times
- Maintain quality, consistency, and presentation at pace throughout busy service
- Uphold strict food hygiene, allergen awareness, and kitchen safety standards
- Assist with stock management, prep organisation, and waste control
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or senior chef in a busy, high-volume Italian restaurant — essential
- Solid cooking skills across pasta, meat, fish, and grill sections
- Strong knowledge of Italian cuisine and authentic cooking techniques
- Fully comfortable with both prep and service — you must be able to do both to a high standard
- Hard working, self-motivated, and someone who takes pride in their work every shift
- Able to work at speed without compromising on quality or presentation
- A dependable team player who can lead when needed
- Sound knowledge of food hygiene regulations and allergen requirements
- Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays
