New Directions Education is currently recruiting for an experienced SEND Cover Supervisor to work within specialist and mainstream settings across the Leeds area.
This is an excellent opportunity for a confident and proactive individual who has previous Cover Supervisor experience and a passion for supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
As a SEND Cover Supervisor, you will:
- Supervise classes during teacher absences, ensuring pupils remain engaged and on task.
- Deliver pre-planned lessons and activities across a range of subjects.
- Support pupils with a variety of SEND needs, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, and learning difficulties.
- Manage classroom behaviour using positive and consistent strategies.
- Adapt activities where necessary to support individual learning needs.
- Work closely with teaching staff and support teams to maintain a positive learning environment.
- Foster an inclusive atmosphere where all pupils feel supported and valued.
- Previous Cover Supervisor experience is essential.
- Experience supporting pupils with SEND and additional learning needs.
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- A patient, resilient, and adaptable approach.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
