Looking for a meaningful, full-time role supporting children with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Complex Needs, and PMLD? We are recruiting SEN Teaching Assistants for a specialist school in Chelmsford, perfect for candidates travelling from Colchester and surrounding Essex areas.
This role is ideal for individuals with experience in care, personal care, early years, or support work who want to build a career in SEND.
The Role
You will support pupils with a wide range of complex learning, physical and communication needs. The role is hands-on and highly rewarding.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support
- Supporting pupils with communication, sensory regulation and engagement
- Assisting with personal care, including feeding, hygiene and mobility (essential)
- Using specialist equipment and adapting activities for individual needs
- Building safe, supportive and trusting relationships with pupils
- Helping pupils develop independence, confidence and emotional regulation
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in care, personal care, early years, or health & social care
- Confidence and compassion when supporting pupils with SLD, complex needs or PMLD
- A calm, patient and adaptable approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Full-time availability, 8:30am–4:00pm
- No prior school experience required — transferable skills are welcome
