MG Construction Services Ltd is a growing construction company delivering high-quality construction projects.
We are looking for an experienced Estimator / Quantity Surveyor to prepare quotations from drawings and manage the commercial side of our live projects.
The successful candidate will mainly work from home, with occasional visits to construction sites to carry out valuations, inspect completed work, assess variations and attend meetings. Agreed business travel expenses will be paid by the company.
Main responsibilities
- Review construction drawings, specifications and tender documents
- Complete accurate material and labour take-offs
- Prepare quotations, estimates and tender submissions
- Obtain and compare supplier and subcontractor quotations
- Prepare project budgets and cost plans
- Prepare monthly valuations and applications for payment
- Provide accurate valuation information before client invoices are issued
- Obtain, review and assess subcontractor valuations
- Check subcontractor invoices and payment applications
- Prepare subcontract orders and payment recommendations
- Identify, record and price variations and additional works
- Issue written instructions for extras and additional works
- Ensure variations are submitted and approved promptly
- Monitor project costs, committed expenditure and profitability
- Prepare cost-value reconciliation reports and cash-flow forecasts
- Attend site and commercial meetings when required
- Negotiate and agree client and subcontractor final accounts
- Maintain complete commercial records for every project
- Work closely with company directors, project managers and site teams
Requirements
- Previous construction experience as a Quantity Surveyor, Estimator or Estimator/QS
- Strong understanding of construction drawings and specifications
- Experience preparing quotations, tenders, valuations and variations
- Experience assessing subcontractor quotations and payment applications
- Good knowledge of construction contracts and commercial procedures
- Strong numerical, negotiation and communication skills
- Competent with Microsoft Excel
- Experience using estimating or take-off software is an advantage
- Able to work independently from home
- Able to manage several projects and meet deadlines
- Willing and able to visit construction sites when required
- Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management is preferred, although strong practical experience will also be considered

Pay: £50,000.00-£80,000.00 per year
