Part-Time Weigh Scale & SCO Till Support Engineer
We are looking for a Part-Time IT & Networking Engineer to support weigh scale verification and related technical activities on Self Check-Out (SCO) tills within supermarket environments.
The role is approximately 4 days per month (2 days per fortnight) and will involve working on-site with weighing equipment, SCO till systems, associated software, IT hardware and network connectivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Support weigh scale verification on SCO tills.
- Work with weigh scale management software and retail till systems.
- Carry out basic checks on IT hardware, networking and connectivity.
- Check network connections, cabling, IP configuration and communication between scales and SCO tills.
- Identify and report basic hardware, software and connectivity issues.
- Work alongside customer IT teams and site personnel where required.
- Follow technical procedures and customer site requirements.
- Complete assigned activities and provide appropriate site sign-off.
- Maintain a professional and customer-focused approach while working in live supermarket/warehouse environments.
Required Skills & Experience
- Good understanding of IT hardware and basic networking.
- Familiarity with Windows-based systems and peripheral devices.
- Basic knowledge of TCP/IP, Ethernet, IP addressing, switches and network connectivity.
- Comfortable working with hardware and troubleshooting basic technical issues.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently on customer sites.
- Willingness to work in supermarket/warehouse environments.
Desirable Experience
- Experience with SCO tills, POS/EPOS or retail systems.
- Experience with weighing scales and weigh scale management software.
- Previous experience working with supermarket technology.
- Experience connecting and troubleshooting retail peripherals.
- IT/networking qualification or relevant hands-on engineering experience.
Working Pattern
- Part-time: approximately 4 days per month
- Typically 2 days per fortnight
- Site-based/customer-site work
- Minimum initial commitment of 3 months, subject to extension based on project requirements.
Pay: £102.00-£110.00 per day
