As an Environmental Services Officer, you will work to provide an efficient and effective waste collection service, together with a high standard of maintenance of public spaces.
A key part of this role is using national waste strategy and policy to inform plans for waste collection, disposal, waste minimisation and recycling
You’ll be responsible for ensuring waste management schemes are implemented effectively and legal requirements are upheld. This role combines elements of waste management and public realm working, so an understanding of local and national environmental policies is essential.
You should be confident speaking to members of the public, local councillors and housing associations to identify and overcome problems arising in the city. Tackling the day-to-day issues alongside project work to improve the overall service provided.
You must have strong analytical skills, the ability to communicate and explain ideas to key stakeholders, advising the council and other relevant bodies/people on the likely impact of new legislation, policies, and initiatives.

Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role. Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.
