Role Overview: The Production Assembly Technician (Mechanical & Wiring) is responsible for assembling, wiring, and integrating mechanical and electromechanical components to build complete products or sub-assemblies.
This role exists to ensure high-quality mechanical builds, accurate wiring looms, safe cable routing, and reliable functionality before products move to test or final inspection.
Technicians follow detailed assembly drawings, wiring schematics, mechanical tolerances, and build instructions, supporting GBTG’s full product manufacturing capability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble mechanical components, housings, brackets, fixings, fasteners, rails and sub‑modules according to engineering drawings and build packs.
- Build and terminate wiring looms, harnesses and interconnects, ensuring correct routing, strain relief, crimp quality, and connector compatibility.
- Read and interpret wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, cable schedules, and assembly instructions to complete builds accurately.
- Carry out mechanical fitting tasks, including drilling, tapping, mounting, aligning, and fixing components into enclosures or frames.
- Validate mechanical integrity and wiring quality through continuity checks, basic functional checks, and visual inspection before handing over to Test.
- Identify build issues, missing parts, or fitment problems, escalating to Production Engineering or Quality where needed.
- Maintain a clean, organised work area and follow tool control, health & safety, and ESD requirements as appropriate.
- Accurately complete assembly documentation, route cards, wiring loom tracking sheets, and build verification records.
