BUSINESS & MARKETING COORDINATOR
Location: Near Fintry, Stirling - Please note - own transport required due to limited public transport links.
Hours: Full-time, permanent
Pay: £12.80 per hour during an initial two-month training period, increasing to £15 per hour following successful completion. Candidates who already have the skills and experience required for the position may be offered the £15 starting rate.
Wood Art by David Mackay Ltd. is a growing independent sawmill and timber business based in the Fintry Hills. We produce Scottish timber cladding and bespoke timber products for customers throughout Scotland.
We’re looking for a capable, organised person to help with the day-to-day running and continued growth of the business.
This isn’t a conventional office job where you’ll spend every day doing the same thing. It’s a varied role covering customer enquiries, quotations, marketing, administration, finance and project coordination.
You’ll work directly with the business owner, contribute your own ideas and have the opportunity to take on more responsibility as your experience and the business grow.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Responding to customer enquiries and following up quotations
- Keeping customer, sales and pricing information organised
- Assisting with sales planning and forecasting
- Creating invoices and maintaining financial spreadsheets
- Preparing information for our accountant
- Managing social media adverts and creating engaging content
- Keeping the website and marketing information up to date
- Supporting Health & Safety and Human Resources administration
- Assisting with project management and the ongoing development of the yard
- Researching suitable grants and helping to prepare applications
- Helping develop and promote new products
- Contributing to the wider development of the business
- Helping create faster and simpler quotation systems
- Keeping track of tasks, deadlines, suppliers and ongoing projects
- Using tools such as ChatGPT for research, writing and repetitive tasks
- Finding practical ways to make the business better organised and more efficient including the use of analytics
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
You don’t need experience in every part of the role. We’re more interested in finding someone bright, reliable and willing to learn.
You’ll be well suited to the position if you:
- Are naturally organised and pay close attention to detail
- Communicate clearly and confidently
- Are comfortable using spreadsheets and everyday computer software
- Can work independently and use your own initiative
- Enjoy solving problems and improving how things are done
- Are confident using social media
- Are interested in learning how a growing business operates
- Have access to their own transport to travel to and from work
- Want a role where you can contribute ideas and make a genuine difference
Experience in marketing, social media advertising, bookkeeping, customer service, grant applications or project coordination would be beneficial, but it isn’t essential.
Experience using AI tools such as ChatGPT would also be useful. We’re looking for someone who can use them practically to streamline work output.
Also, if you have experience working at a wood yard, or in the timber industry, then this would also be helpful, but not essential.
THE WORKING ENVIRONMENT
You’ll initially be based at our sawmill near Fintry, working from our timber office overlooking the surrounding hills and countryside. Given the location of our sawmill the successful applicant will require to have access to their own transport to get to and from work.
The role will be office-based during training, with the possibility of hybrid working for up to two days per week once you’re fully settled into the position.
This could be a particularly good opportunity for a recent marketing or business graduate, an ambitious college leaver, or someone with administrative or customer-service experience who is ready for more variety and responsibility.
HOW TO APPLY
Please send us your CV along with a short introduction explaining why the role interests you.
We’d also like you to tell us about one practical way you’ve used technology or AI to save time, solve a problem or improve a piece of work. This could be from employment, education or a personal project.
