Role Title : Activity Worker
Reporting to: Operations Manager
Location: Cheshire (Chester, Ellesmere Port, Warrington and the surrounding areas). Based at Autism Practical Support (APS), Sension House, Denton Drive, Northwich, CW9 7LU
Hours: 0. Working hours offered will vary depending on operational requirements – daytime and evening hours available, some weekend work
Salary : £12.71 + Holiday pay per hour

Role Overview
Autism Practical Support (APS) is a charity that supports autistic people and their families across Cheshire. We provide activities for children, teens and adults on the autism spectrum including kids and youth groups, sports lessons, multisport sessions, trampolining and lots more! We have a thriving autistic adult community who are able to access a wide range of sessions such as meet ups, virtual mental health sessions, crafting clubs and walks. The Activity Worker position is an integral role within APS supporting all activities within the charity.
Tasks
- Delivery weekly, fortnight and monthly activity sessions, including holiday clubs.
- To liaise with parents to ensure communication routes are clear and timely.
- To support other Activity Workers to maximise engagement and guidance to support the members providing them with clear instructions.
- To report and record member incidents allowing a comprehensive case of additional support to be compiled
- To comply with Safeguarding and Prevent policy and procedures at all times, ensuring the safety of all members both on and off-site
- To provide a positive role model for all members and provide pastoral care and support.
- To motivate, advise and support members at all times on their own journey and ensure we are meeting their needs.
- To promote and maintain a stimulating, progressive environment.
- To take responsibility for members when taking part in off-site activities
- To take responsibility for maintaining Health & Safety on and off site, undertaking relevant risk assessment activity
- To utilise existing links to enhance the sessions and activities and develop new community projects through partnership opportunities.
- To be flexible and easily able to adapt to changes in duties, routine and circumstances.
- To accept the daily fluctuations within the organisation and support requirements of members
- Work collaboratively with other APS team members
- Administer First Aid if required (or to undertake a First Aid qualification if currently unqualified)
- Any other duties as required.
Person Specification
Qualifications and Experience
- English and Maths GCSE or equivalent at grade C or above
- Experience of working in Autism focused environment
- Awareness of good data management and confidentiality practice i.e. Data Protection and GDPR
- Computer literate with experience of MS, Word, Excel and Email
- Wide range of general administration duties
- Experience of supporting people with learning disabilities
Knowledge and Skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and effective member of the team
- Good organisational skills with ability to prioritise work tasks and deliver to deadlines
- Ability to keep accurate and up to date records
- Full clean Driving Licence (Car)
- Able to work in a busy environment where change is a constant feature
- Knowledge of Inclusion, Equality & Diversity, Safeguarding policy
