As our Catering Supervisor, you will oversee the day-to-day operation of the school kitchen, ensuring the efficient delivery of high-quality catering for our pupils, staff and visitors. You will supervise and support the catering team, maintain excellent food safety and hygiene standards, manage stock and ordering, and support the catering requirements of our School and Mini-Stay provision.

About the Position
Contract Type: Permanent, All Year Round
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am–4:30pm, with flexibility
Salary: £28,000 per annum
Start Date: September 2026
This role requires flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends to support Mini-Stays, school events and functions.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing the day-to-day operation of the school kitchen and ensuring an efficient, high-quality catering service.
- Supervising, supporting and coordinating members of the catering team.
- Supporting the preparation, presentation and service of high-quality meals, snacks and refreshments.
- Ensuring consistently high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and food safety throughout the kitchen.
- Ensuring appropriate procedures are followed in relation to allergens, dietary requirements and safe food preparation.
- Managing stock levels, ordering supplies and ensuring appropriate storage and stock rotation.
- Supporting the catering requirements of the School’s Mini-Stay provision.
- Coordinating catering requirements for school events, functions and other activities.
- Ensuring kitchen equipment and catering areas are maintained safely and any concerns are reported promptly.
- Supporting and developing members of the catering team to maintain high standards of service.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues across the School to respond to changing catering and operational requirements.
We are looking for someone who has:
- Previous experience working within a catering, hospitality or kitchen environment.
- A strong understanding of food hygiene, Health & Safety and allergen management.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- The ability to supervise, support and motivate other members of the catering team.
- High standards of food preparation, cleanliness and customer service.
- The ability to work independently, use initiative and manage competing priorities.
- Good communication skills and the confidence to interact professionally with colleagues, pupils, parents and visitors.
- A reliable, flexible and positive approach to work.
- A willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends to support Mini-Stays, school events and functions.
- A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Previous supervisory experience, knowledge of stock control and ordering processes, and a recognised Food Hygiene/Food Safety qualification would be advantageous; however, training and support will be provided to the successful candidate.
