Press Brake Operative
Hours of Work: Rotating Morning / Afternoon Shift Pattern
Mornings - Monday to Friday 6am to 2pm
Afternoons - Monday -Thurs 2pm-12am.
About the Role:
We are looking for a Press Brake Operative who is responsible for the daily setup and operation of computer-controlled press brakes (Bystronic) to perform one or more machine functions on steel products, having the ability to:
- Produce components requiring interpretation of engineering drawings, aided by jigs and templates.
- Programme a component accurately to any engineering drawing.
- Operating to a high standard and fully understands comprehensive bend symbols and technical data on engineering drawings.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Capable of problem solving and mentoring press labourer/operator where required.
- Capable of producing parts without the need for supervision and dimensionally check to drawing and make adjustments to programmes.
- Capable of understanding more advanced drawing symbols.
- Capable of working to drawing tolerances and possessing the knowledge and skills to maintain them to an acceptable standard.
- Capable of producing components and dimensionally checking and verifying to drawing
- Can work from flat profile drawings and understand development lengths.
- Proficient in all the onsite press brake machinery.
- Capable of working to deadlines and see tasks through to completion in a timely manner.
- Understands safe working practices material and tooling limits.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Apprentice trained or time served experience in the press brake industry, ideally having worked on Bystronic Presses
- Safety, Quality, Accuracy, Timeliness, Reliability and Thoroughness of work performed.
- Understands health and safety on the shop floor.
- Ability to operate precision measuring devices such as calipers, square, micrometres, protractors, and tape measures
