Junior Commercial Manager
Our growing Sub-Contract business needs a Junior Commercial Manager to support our team with procurement and financial management of our live projects.
The successful candidate will be very reliable, highly motivated, enthusiastic and willing to learn.
The role will include, but not be limited to:
- Create and issue Purchase Orders for suppliers and installation teams
- Negotiate best prices from suppliers
- Develop skills to procure the correct materials in a self-sufficient manner
- Maintain profit and loss accounts on projects and update project files accordingly
- Report deviations from expected margins
- Take full commercial responsibility for some projects
- Assist with cash management and retention schedules
- Maintain records for install teams
- Maintain records for hired plant & tools
- Assist commercial team with preparing variations and carrying out valuations on projects
- Assist with handover of secured projects to ‘live’ format
Required Skills & Experience:
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Confident using Microsoft Excel, Outlook and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to read and interpret quotations, purchase orders and project cost information.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Strong communication skills with the confidence to liaise professionally with suppliers, subcontractors, clients and internal departments.
- Ability to negotiate effectively whilst maintaining positive supplier relationships.
- A proactive and self-motivated approach with a willingness to learn and develop commercially.
- Able to work independently whilst also contributing as part of a wider commercial and project team.
- High level of accuracy when maintaining project records, financial information and documentation.
- Reliable, trustworthy and able to handle commercially sensitive information confidentially.
- Full UK driving licence
Desired Skills & Experience:
- Previous experience within the construction industry, preferably with a subcontractor, main contractor or specialist fit-out company.
- Good understanding of construction procurement processes and supplier management.
- Knowledge of construction contracts and subcontract administration.
- Experience preparing or assisting with valuations, variations and final accounts.
- Understanding of project profit and loss reporting.
- Experience using construction management software such as Procore, Coins, Viewpoint, Causeway or similar.
- Knowledge of procurement and supply chain management.
- HNC/HND or degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management or a related discipline (or working towards).
Job Type: Full Time – Office based, no home working
Pay: £25,000.00 - £30,000.00 - depending on experience
