About the Role
You will take a senior position within our children’s homes, leading shifts, supporting Residential Support Workers, and ensuring high standards of care are consistently met. This role suits someone who is confident, resilient, and ready to take responsibility in a fast-paced residential environment.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead shifts and act as the senior decision-maker on duty
· Deliver high-quality, trauma-informed, child-centred care
· Mentor, guide, and support staff to develop their practice
· Implement and review care plans, risk assessments, and behaviour strategies
· Safeguard children and ensure policies, procedures, and legislation are followed
· Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and life skills
· Maintain professional communication with social workers, schools, and external agencies
· Ensure accurate, timely, and detailed record keeping
Shift Pattern
· 14.5-hour shifts plus sleep-ins (overnight)
· Approximately 3 shifts per week
· Block shifts with multiple rest days between
· Includes 2 weekends per month
Qualifications & Essential Requirements
· Aged 21 or over (Children’s Homes Regulations)
· Proven experience in a children’s residential care setting
· Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (or working towards)
· Strong knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, and behaviour management
· Experience supporting children with complex needs and challenging behaviour
· Confidence to lead shifts and support staff decision-making
· Full UK manual driving licence
· Enhanced DBS for children and young people (Update Service preferred)
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Emotionally resilient with a calm, professional manner
