Sanctuary Personnel is recruiting an experienced Social Worker – Safeguarding to undertake an exciting 3-month placement in the Falkland Islands, with the potential for an extension.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified Children and Families Social Worker looking to take their experience into a unique setting while gaining valuable professional and personal experience working within a close-knit community.
You will play a key role in safeguarding children and young people, managing a varied caseload and working collaboratively with families, partner agencies and other professionals to promote positive outcomes and ensure children are protected from harm.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of children and families requiring safeguarding and social care intervention.
- Undertake assessments of children and young people in line with relevant legislation, policies and professional standards.
- Develop, implement and review child protection and care plans.
- Identify and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns and risks.
- Work directly with children, young people and families to understand their circumstances, wishes and needs.
- Coordinate and contribute to multi-agency meetings, reviews and child protection processes.
- Work collaboratively with education, health, police and other partner agencies.
- Maintain accurate, comprehensive and timely case records.
- Advocate for children and young people and ensure their voices are central to planning and decision-making.
- Manage risk effectively and take appropriate action where children may be experiencing abuse, neglect or other forms of harm.
- Provide professional advice and guidance to colleagues and partner agencies where appropriate.
- Ensure practice is compliant with relevant legislation, safeguarding procedures and professional standards.
Requirements
- Social Work qualification and current registration with Social Work England.
- At least 5 years' experience working within a Children & Families Social Work team.
- Strong experience in children's safeguarding and child protection.
- Proven ability to manage complex cases and assess risk effectively.
- Experience working within a multi-agency safeguarding environment.
- Excellent communication, assessment and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work independently and adapt quickly to a different working environment.
- Commitment to achieving positive outcomes for children and families.
- Previous experience of working in a remote, rural or island community would be advantageous, but is not essential.
