Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Dispenser to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in pharmacy operations, with a focus on accurately dispensing medications and providing excellent patient care.
As a Pharmacy Dispenser, you will be responsible for preparing prescriptions, assisting patients, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. Your role is vital in supporting pharmacists and delivering high-quality pharmaceutical services to our community.
Duties
- Accurately dispense prescribed medications to patients in accordance with prescriptions and regulatory guidelines.
- Assist pharmacists in managing medication inventories, including stock replenishment and storage.
- Provide clear instructions to patients regarding medication usage, potential side effects, and storage requirements.
- Maintain detailed records of dispensed medications and patient interactions to ensure compliance and traceability.
- Support the pharmacy team in administering medications and delivering patient care services as needed.
- Ensure the pharmacy environment adheres to health, safety, and hygiene standards at all times.
- Engage with patients courteously, answering questions and offering guidance on over-the-counter products when appropriate.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a pharmacy technician or dispenser within community pharmacy settings.
- Knowledge of administration procedures, safety protocols, and pharmaceutical regulations.
- Strong commitment to patient care with excellent communication skills.
- Ability to accurately interpret prescriptions and manage medication inventories efficiently.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure precise dispensing and record-keeping.
- Certification or qualification in dispensing or related field is a requirement.
- Familiarity with pharmacy management software and healthcare documentation systems is advantageous.
- Ability to complete MDS trays is a requirement
- End of month procedures with regard to daily claiming of ETP prescriptions and providing daily figures to our head office.
- Ability to help on the counter whenever needed is imperative.
