Remington Clinics Ltd is seeking experienced and motivated Independent Prescribing Pharmacists to support a range of NHS and locally commissioned clinical services delivered through community pharmacy and wider primary care settings.
The role will involve providing safe, patient-centred clinical consultations within agreed service specifications, clinical pathways and governance arrangements.
Key Responsibilities
The Independent Prescribing Pharmacist will:
- Undertake structured clinical consultations with patients.
- Assess, diagnose and manage patients within their agreed scope of practice.
- Prescribe medicines where clinically appropriate.
- Provide appropriate advice, treatment, safety-netting and follow-up.
- Recognise red flags and escalate or refer patients appropriately.
- Work within agreed clinical pathways, service specifications, SOPs and local policies.
- Maintain accurate and contemporaneous clinical records.
- Complete required service documentation using systems such as EMIS, PharmOutcomes and other commissioned digital platforms.
- Communicate relevant consultation outcomes to GP practices and other healthcare professionals where required.
- Participate in clinical supervision, governance meetings and service reviews.
- Report incidents, near misses, safeguarding concerns and complaints in line with governance procedures.
- Maintain appropriate professional indemnity, registration and prescribing competence.
- Complete required patient feedback and service evaluation processes.
- Work collaboratively with pharmacy teams, GP practices, PCNs, ICB teams and other healthcare professionals.
Clinical Expectations
Pharmacists must only work within areas in which they are trained, competent and confident to practise.
Applicants should ideally have experience or competence in one or more of the following:
- Minor illness
- Respiratory assessment
- Lipid optimisation
Additional training may be provided depending on the requirements of individual services.
Essential Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be able to work on site
- Be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
- Hold a recognised Independent Prescribing qualification.
- Have an active prescribing annotation on the GPhC register.
- Have appropriate professional indemnity insurance covering independent prescribing.
- Be able to demonstrate a clearly defined and current scope of prescribing practice.
- Be able to work autonomously while recognising professional and clinical limitations.
- Demonstrate strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
- Have excellent communication and consultation skills.
- Be comfortable working collaboratively across community pharmacy and primary care.
- Maintain high standards of documentation, governance and patient confidentiality.
- Complete all required compliance and onboarding documentation.
Desirable Criteria
It would be advantageous to have:
- Previous experience delivering NHS commissioned clinical services.
- Experience within community pharmacy, general practice, PCNs or urgent care.
- Experience using EMIS, PharmOutcomes, GP Connect or similar systems.
- Experience of clinical examination and assessment.
Professional Development and Clinical Governance
All pharmacists are expected to:
- Participate in regular clinical supervision.
- Maintain an up-to-date scope of practice.
- Complete an annual non-medical prescribing declaration.
- Maintain CPD relevant to services delivered.
- Participate in incident reviews and shared learning where appropriate.
- Attend mandatory service-specific training.
- Engage with clinical case discussions and peer learning opportunities.
- Follow Remington Clinics and commissioner clinical governance requirements.
Working Arrangements
This is primarily sessional clinical work rather than a permanent employed role.
Sessions will be offered based on:
- Service demand
- Site capacity
- Commissioner requirements
- Pharmacist availability
- Relevant clinical competence
There is no guaranteed minimum number of hours.
Different services may operate at different sites and at different times.

Pay: £28.00-£30.00 per hour
