Duties
- Prepare and cook nutritious meals and snacks suitable for children of various age groups, ensuring all dietary requirements are met
- Plan weekly menus that incorporate healthy ingredients and variety to promote balanced nutrition
- Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene in all food preparation areas, adhering to health regulations
- Collaborate with staff to coordinate meal times and ensure smooth service during busy periods
- Monitor inventory levels, order supplies as needed, and manage storage to minimize waste
- Assist in creating a positive mealtime environment that encourages good eating habits and social interaction among children
- Keep detailed records of food preparations, dietary restrictions, and allergy management
Requirements
- Proven experience in food preparation and cooking, preferably within a childcare, nursery, or similar setting
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices in a kitchen environment
- Experience with meal planning and culinary techniques suitable for young children
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with staff and caregivers
- Previous experience working in a restaurant or catering environment is highly desirable
- Serving skills or experience in hospitality can be an added advantage
