School Passenger Assistant – Term-Time Only
About us
We are a friendly, family-owned minibus company providing school transport for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
We are looking for a caring, patient and reliable Passenger Assistant to join our team and help keep children safe and comfortable while travelling to and from school.
The role
You will work alongside the minibus driver during the morning and afternoon school runs. Your responsibilities will include:
- Helping children safely board and leave the minibus.
- Making sure passengers are seated correctly and wearing their seat belts.
- Supporting children according to their individual needs.
- Keeping passengers safe, settled and comfortable throughout the journey.
- Providing reassurance and maintaining a calm environment.
- Communicating appropriately with parents, carers, school staff, drivers and management.
- Reporting any incidents, concerns or changes in a child’s needs.
- Following safeguarding, confidentiality and company procedures.
- Assisting during an emergency or vehicle evacuation if required.
What we are looking for
You must be:
- Caring, patient and understanding.
- Honest, reliable and punctual.
- Comfortable working with children who may have additional or complex needs.
- Able to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
- Able to work well as part of a team.
- Available for both morning and afternoon school runs during term time.
- Living in the Stockport area.
Previous experience working with children or people with additional needs is helpful but not essential, as training will be provided.
Important information
- This is a term-time-only position.
- There is no weekend working.
- You will be collected from your home before the school run and dropped back at home afterwards.
- An Enhanced DBS check is required due to the role involving work with children and vulnerable passengers.
- Appointment will be subject to satisfactory employment and safeguarding checks.
