Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Dog Groomer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a love for dogs and a commitment to providing exceptional grooming services. As a Dog Groomer, you will be responsible for ensuring the health and well-being of dogs while delivering outstanding customer service to owners. Your expertise in animal care and grooming techniques will help create a positive experience for both pets and their owners.
This is a full time position – Hours are Monday to Friday 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.
You must be prepared to work alternate Saturdays 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. on a rolling basis.
Responsibilities
- Perform grooming services for various breeds of dogs including bathing, clipping, and styling fur according to breed standards or client preferences.
- Ensure the safety and comfort of all dogs during grooming sessions.
- Conduct health checks on dogs to identify any skin conditions or other health issues that may require attention.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the grooming area, including tools and equipment.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with pet owners regarding their pets' needs and grooming options.
- Assist in lifting larger animals as needed, ensuring proper handling techniques are used to prevent injury to both the pet and yourself.
- Stay updated on grooming trends, techniques, and best practices within the industry.
Qualifications
- You must have a minimum Level 3 City & Guilds qualification in Dog Grooming with at least 12 months experience in a professional busy salon
- Previous experience in veterinary care or animal handling is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of animal behaviour and positive reinforcement techniques.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to build rapport with clients.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when handling larger breeds or multiple pets.
- A genuine love for animals and commitment to their welfare is essential.
- A strong knowledge of breed-specific cuts, styling techniques and attention to detail is required
- You must also be prepared to take the Emmipet Tooth Cleaning training (cost covered by us)
