We are looking for a practical, reliable and motivated Maintenance/Handyman/experienced maintenance/Tradesman to join our growing maintenance team.
We manage a growing portfolio of supported accommodation properties, providing safe and welcoming homes for women and children, including those who have fled domestic abuse. We take real pride in the standard of our properties and want every home we provide to feel safe, comfortable, well maintained and genuinely homely.
About the Role
This is a varied, hands-on role where no two days will necessarily be the same. You will work alongside our existing maintenance team to carry out repairs, general maintenance, improvements and property preparation across our portfolio.
We are open to candidates at different levels of experience.
You may already be an experienced maintenance operative, handyman or tradesperson looking for a new role within a growing organisation.
Alternatively, you may have basic practical or DIY skills and a genuine interest in learning a trade and developing your maintenance skills. For the right person, we have an experienced team who can provide support, training and opportunities to learn on the job.
For us, attitude is just as important as experience. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, is willing to learn and has a positive, can-do approach.
The Role May Include
- General property repairs and maintenance
- Painting and decorating
- Basic plumbing repairs
- Basic carpentry and joinery
- Furniture assembly and installation
- Repairing fixtures, fittings, doors and locks
- Preparing rooms and properties for new residents
- Identifying maintenance issues and helping resolve them
- Supporting property refurbishments and improvements
- Keeping properties clean, safe and presented to a high standard
- Working alongside other members of the maintenance and property team
- Attending different properties within our portfolio as required
You do not need to be experienced in every area. If you have a good foundation of practical skills, are willing to learn and can follow guidance from experienced members of the team, we would still like to hear from you.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who is:
- Practical and enjoys hands-on work
- Reliable, punctual and trustworthy
- Hardworking with a strong work ethic
- Able to use their initiative and problem-solve
- Willing to learn new skills
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Respectful and professional when working within residents' homes
- Proud of producing work to a good standard
- Flexible and willing to turn their hand to different jobs
- Positive with a genuine can-do attitude
Previous property maintenance or trade experience would be an advantage, but we are also happy to consider someone with basic skills who wants the opportunity to learn and develop within the role.
A full UK driving licence is essential due to travel between our properties.
Why Join Us?
This isn't simply about fixing things when they break. Our maintenance team plays an important part in creating homes that people can feel safe and comfortable in.
Many of the women and children we support have experienced difficult circumstances, including domestic abuse. We therefore take pride in creating properties that are not only compliant and well maintained, but warm, welcoming and homely.
As our organisation and property portfolio continue to grow, there will also be opportunities for the right person to develop their skills, gain experience and grow with the team.
If you're an experienced maintenance professional looking for your next opportunity, or you're practical, hardworking and looking for someone to give you the opportunity to learn, we'd love to hear from you.
