Who we are
QuantSpark is a data and AI consultancy of around 50 people in London, working across sectors such as financial services, retail, manufacturing, private equity, and the public sector. We exist to turn data, strategic insight, and AI into a real competitive advantage for the businesses we work with, and we do so through four capabilities: AiRE, Labs, Transform, and Forge.
That combination puts us somewhere most firms in this space don't sit: a challenger consultancy that turns strategy into working systems rather than just recommendations. We started in 2016 from a single retail engagement and that client is still one of our biggest today.
This year, our work received some outside recognition too: Consultancy of the Year at the British Data Awards 2026, and a finalist place in this year's Culture 100 Awards.
The role
This role exists to give our engineers coaching, direction, and a strong quality bar, while making sure clients get excellent delivery and adoption. The role sits across three things in equal measure: people leadership, technical direction, and client ownership.
Here's what that looks like in practice:
-
Lead a small team of data and AI engineers, mentoring across seniority levels, running 1:1s, and owning team hiring and performance
-
Bring hands-on credibility across software and data. Most of the team's work runs on Python (Flask/Django) and Pandas for data engineering and modelling, with React.js on the front end, and you'll guide architecture and design decisions across containerised, cloud-based systems on AWS and Azure
-
Set the standard for how the team applies AI, exercising judgement on where it adds value and where it doesn't, coaching engineers to do the same
-
Own the client relationship as much as the delivery. You'll sit in front of client stakeholders, align with product managers on sequencing and scope, and make the calls between delivery, people, and quality
-
Help establish standards and process that are still being defined. The client base spans financial services, retail, manufacturing, public sector, private equity, and societal-impact work, and you'll likely move across several of these over time
Who You Are
If this sounds like your kind of challenge, you might be who we're looking for:
-
A track record of managing engineers: coaching, performance conversations, career development
-
Hands-on experience across software and data, for example Python (Flask/Django), React.js, and analytics or data engineering, building pipelines, models, and data products
-
Fluent in software and data architecture, containerisation, and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure)
-
Judgement on AI - you understand where it helps and where it doesn't, and you can coach a team to use it well
-
Comfort with ambiguity - you will have the opportunity to put your own stamp on the engineering function and build out processes
-
Client-facing or consulting experience is a plus, but not a hard requirement
The Perks
-
Bonus scheme combining company profit share and personal performance bonus (up to 10% of annual salary)
-
EMI share options available to everyone, regardless of seniority
-
£6,000 annual training and conference budget, with 12 ringfenced learning days
-
Up to 12% matched pension
-
Comprehensive private healthcare through Vitality
-
25 days holiday plus 8 bank holidays, with flexibility to buy or sell up to 5 additional days
-
Work from anywhere in the world for up to 1 month per year
-
Enhanced maternity, paternity and shared parental leave
-
Free annual Headspace subscription
-
Cycle to work scheme
-
Modern Blackfriars office (Central London), with regular team socials, monthly QuantSpark Fridays and employee-led clubs
-
Retail, travel, technology, and fitness discounts via Vitality
-
Access to modern analytics tools and platforms
-
Regular tech talks, knowledge sharing sessions, and innovation time
If you're reading this and ticking most of the boxes but not all of them, apply anyway. We'd rather hear from someone who's good at this and slightly different on paper than miss them because a requirement didn't quite match.
Equal Opportunities
We're committed to building a diverse and inclusive team. Different perspectives, identities, and experiences make us stronger, both as people and as a business. All qualified applicants will be considered regardless of sex, sexual orientation, marital status, race, nationality, religion, disability, or age.
