Patisserie Sainte Anne is a family-run French patisserie and bakery in London, known for traditional methods, premium ingredients, and beautifully made viennoiseries, pastries, and celebration cakes. We’re looking for an experienced Front of House Manager to lead service standards, team performance, and day-to-day shop operations while delivering a warm, efficient customer experience.
You’ll be responsible for running the front of house operation end-to-end, leading the team on shift, and ensuring the shop is consistently high-performing, clean, and welcoming.
The Role
Service leadership & customer experience
- Lead by example on the floor during peak periods, keeping service fast, friendly, and calm
- Ensure excellent product knowledge across the team (pastries, breads, cakes, allergens)
- Handle customer feedback and complaints professionally and promptly
- Maintain a strong “regulars-first” community feel while delivering consistent standards
Team Management
- Manage, coach, and motivate the front of house team (training, performance, standards)
- Build rotas, manage breaks, and ensure correct staffing for peak hours
- Support hiring and onboarding for FOH roles
- Set clear expectations around punctuality, presentation, hygiene, and teamwork
Operations and management
- Oversee daily opening/closing routines and cashing up
- Ensure strong compliance with food safety, hygiene, and allergen procedures
- Maintain excellent shop presentation: displays, cleanliness, packaging standards
- Coordinate smoothly with the kitchen/baking team to manage stock, availability, and pacing
- Monitor wastage and support end-of-day processes (including surplus management where relevant)
Systems and reporting
- Use till system confidently: transactions, refunds, basic reporting, troubleshooting
- Track key operational issues and report them clearly to ownership/management
- Identify improvements to speed of service, upselling, and customer flow
Must-have
- Proven experience as a FOH Manager / Supervisor in a busy café, bakery, restaurant, or food retail setting
- Strong leadership skills: calm under pressure, clear communicator, hands-on manager
- High standards for cleanliness, presentation, and customer service
- Confident with cash handling, refunds, and POS systems
- Strong understanding of allergens and food hygiene best practices
- Fluent English on shift
Nice-to-have
- Experience in premium bakery/patisserie or high-volume takeaway service
- Interest in French food culture and artisanal products
- Ability to support local marketing initiatives (community engagement, review generation, etc.)
- Barista experience
- French Speaking
Hours
- 5 days per week
- Typical trading hours: Wed–Sat 7:00am–5:00pm, Sun 8:00am–5:00pm
- Exact rota to be agreed
