Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Cook to join our small, friendly children's day nursery. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation and a commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene. As Cook, you will play a vital role in creating healthy and nutritious meals for the children who attend each day while ensuring the kitchen operates smoothly and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook age appropriate, fresh food for the children who attend each day (up to 43) with minimum wastage according to menu specifications.
- Ensure dietary requirements are catered for and communicated to the staff team.
- Work within the team to promote healthy eating.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation within the kitchen, adhering to food safety standards at all times.
- Monitor inventory levels of food supplies and assist with ordering as needed.
- Ensure all kitchen equipment is properly maintained and cleaned after use.
Experience / Qualification
- Food Safety Certificate CIEH L2 or above (or equivalent)
- Proven experience as a Cook in a domestic or commercial setting.
- Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, food safety practices (COSHH) , and meal preparation methods.
- Ability to work under pressure, with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
- Ability to demonstrate sound knowledge of managing different dietary requirements, including food allergens.
- A commitment to promote safeguarding as well as health and safety.
Pay: £13.50 per hour
