Depot Operative (IBA) – Brentford, Middlesex

Our Brentford site is the central hub of Day Group, combining our head office teams with a busy operational depot that supports IBA recycling across the South East. The site handles the intake and processing of material used to produce our sustainable Ecoblend® aggregates, helping reduce reliance on primary resources.
As a Depot Operative, you’ll play a key role in keeping the site running smoothly. This is a hands-on role where you’ll work as part of a team in a busy environment.
What You’ll Do
- Sort metal and other materials by hand from a moving conveyor belt
- Use tools and equipment to clean conveyors, screens, and other plant areas
- Help with maintenance and repairs when needed
- Keep the site safe and tidy at all times
- Follow health, safety, and environmental rules
Essential Mechanical/Fitting Requirements
All applicants must be able to carry out basic to intermediate fitting duties, including:
- Changing bearings and rollers
- Adjusting and replacing scraper blades
- Changing skirt rubbers
- Tracing conveyor belts
- Working confidently on ECS/conveyors and associated equipment
- Ideally bringing experience from a quarry, recycling, or mineral processing environment
Hours
- 45 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
- Day Shift: 06:45 - 16:45 (including 1 hour unpaid break)
- Late Shift: 12:00 pm – 11:00 pm (including 1 hour unpaid break)
- Please state if you have a preference regarding hours.
