Overview
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Bookkeeper and Payroll Administrator to join an expanding family-run tree surgery and forestry business within Gloucestershire and the surrounding areas. We would prefer someone with who can work closely with other office staff and the business owners (who can sometimes have minor disagreements as husbands and wives do)! The office is based at the yard and to that effect, its not pretty, but very friendly.
This role involves managing accurate financial records, processing payroll, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting software and a keen eye for detail, contributing to the smooth financial operations of our organisation.
Duties
- Maintain accurate financial records using accounting software Xero.
- Manage quarterly VAT returns.
- Process payroll efficiently, ensuring timely payments to employees and contractors
- Manage accounts payable, including invoice processing and vendor payments
- Reconcile bank statements and ensure all financial data is correctly recorded
- Prepare financial reports and summaries for management review
- Assist with year-end procedures and liaise with external auditors as required
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations and other statutory requirements
- Cash flow forecasting
- Maintain organised documentation of all financial transactions for audit purposes
Qualifications
- Proven experience in bookkeeping and payroll management within a similar role
- Proficiency in accounting software in Xero, is essential
- Strong understanding of accounts payable processes and payroll procedures
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines effectively
- Knowledge of relevant financial regulations and compliance standards
- Previous experience in using various accounting platforms is highly desirable
- A recognised qualification in accounting or finance
