About the Role:
We are looking for a friendly, reliable and organised Part-Time Bike Shop Assistant to join our team. The role will involve supporting the day-to-day running of the shop, providing excellent customer service and helping to ensure our stock, orders and finances are kept accurate and up to date.
Key Responsibilities:
● Providing friendly and knowledgeable customer service to customers in-store and by phone.
● Processing sales and payments accurately through the till/EPOS system.
● Cashing up at the end of shifts, including reconciling cash and card payments and reporting any discrepancies.
● Stock control, including receiving deliveries, checking quantities, pricing and labelling products, and keeping stock records accurate.
● Monitoring stock levels and identifying products that need to be reordered.
● Making and managing supplier orders, ensuring the right products and quantities are ordered at the right time.
● Checking incoming orders against invoices and purchase orders.
● Keeping the shop floor, stockroom and displays clean, organised and well presented.
● Assisting with general shop duties and supporting colleagues when required.
● Following company procedures for cash handling, stock management and customer service.
We are looking for someone who is:
● Reliable, organised and able to work independently.
● Comfortable handling cash and carrying out basic financial reconciliation.
● Confident using computers, tills/EPOS systems and stock management software.
● Detail-oriented, particularly when checking stock and placing orders.
● Friendly and approachable with good communication skills.
● Able to prioritise tasks and work efficiently in a busy retail environment.
● Passionate about bikes and cycling, or willing to develop their knowledge.
● Flexible and willing to support the wider team when needed.
Desirable:
● Previous experience in a bike shop or cycle retail environment.
● Previous retail or stock-control experience.
● Experience with supplier ordering and purchasing.
● Basic knowledge of bicycles, components and accessories.
