We are looking for an experienced and passionate Senior Residential Support Worker to join our dedicated team supporting children and young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). As a Senior Residential Support Worker, you will support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of the home, ensuring high standards of care are maintained while creating a safe, nurturing and therapeutic environment where children can thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality, child-centred care that promotes safety, wellbeing and positive outcomes.
- Act as a positive role model, mentoring and supporting Residential Support Workers during shifts.
- Lead shifts confidently, ensuring the home operates effectively and in line with policies, procedures and Ofsted regulations.
- Build trusting relationships with children and young people, helping them to develop resilience, independence and life skills.
- Support children to attend education, health appointments, family contact and recreational activities.
- Complete accurate records, daily logs, risk assessments, care plans and incident reports.
- Administer medication safely in line with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Use therapeutic approaches and de-escalation techniques to manage behaviours that challenge.
- Work collaboratively with social workers, schools, families and other professionals to achieve positive outcomes.
- Safeguard children at all times, recognising and responding appropriately to any concerns.
What We're Looking For:
- Previous experience working within a children's residential home supporting young people with EBD.
- Experience leading shifts or supporting the management of a residential home.
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) is essential.
- A Level 5 qualification, or willingness to work towards it, is desirable.
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding, children's legislation and Ofsted standards.
- Excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills.
- Passionate about making a real difference to the lives of the children we support
- A full UK driving licence is preferred.
- Flexibility to do sleeps and long shifts
