Practice Nurse – Private GP Clinic

The Role
We are seeking an experienced and professional Practice Nurse to join our private GP clinic in London.
Working alongside our GPs and clinical team, you will provide safe, evidence-based and patient-centred nursing care, with a strong focus on preventative healthcare, health screening and routine primary care services.
Key Responsibilities
- Health checks and preventative care – undertake patient observations, blood pressure monitoring and routine health assessments.
- Phlebotomy – perform venepuncture and appropriate specimen collection.
- Immunisations and vaccinations – administer vaccinations within professional competence and applicable clinical protocols/authorisations.
- Cervical screening – undertake cervical screening where appropriately trained and competent.
- ECGs and clinical investigations – perform ECGs and other routine clinical measurements.
- Wound care – provide wound assessment, dressings and follow-up care.
- Long-term condition support – assist with monitoring patients with conditions such as hypertension, diabetes and other chronic conditions within the clinic's scope of services.
- GP clinical support – assist doctors with minor procedures and other clinical activities when required.
- Maintain accurate, contemporaneous and confidential patient records.
- Maintain appropriate infection prevention and control standards.
- Support medicines and vaccine management, including appropriate storage and cold-chain procedures where applicable.
- Participate in clinical audits, safeguarding, incident reporting and quality improvement.
- Participating in infection control, cold chain maintenance, ensuring fridge temperatures are regularly monitored and maintained
- Supporting patients with lifestyle advice and self-care management
- Advising patients on health care, minor ailments, health promotion, and illness prevention
- Preparing and maintaining clinical rooms and equipment before, during and after patient care activities, ensuring a clean and safe environment
- Ensuring emergency medication and resuscitation equipment is adequately stocked and fit for purpose
- Ensuring proper handling and dispatch of laboratory specimens including blood and urine samples
- Participating in practice meetings and contributing to our aim for continuous improvement
- Supporting the training and mentoring of junior staff members
- Work collaboratively with GPs and the wider clinic team to maintain high standards of patient care.
Essential Requirements
- Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
- Previous Practice Nurse / Primary Care experience.
- Competent in phlebotomy.
- Appropriate training and demonstrated competency for the clinical procedures undertaken.
- Good understanding of infection prevention, safeguarding and patient safety.
- Excellent communication and patient-care skills.
- Ability to work professionally and independently within scope of practice.
- Commitment to maintaining professional development and NMC requirements.
Desirable
- Cervical screening competency.
- Vaccination and immunisation experience.
- ECG competency.
- Wound-care experience.
- Experience with health screening and long-term condition monitoring.
- Previous experience within a private GP or independent healthcare setting.
- Understanding of CQC-regulated healthcare services and clinical governance.
