Overview
Alora Living Services is seeking warm, reliable individuals to provide companionship and lifestyle support across London, Essex and Kent, in a flexible, self-employed capacity.
Our purpose is to connect clients — often older adults, but also busy professionals and individuals living alone — with trusted companions who can enhance daily life and reduce isolation.
This is a companionship role, not a care role. You will be offering friendly conversation, social connection and practical everyday help that allows clients to maintain their independence and feel supported at home. It is ideal for people with a genuinely caring nature who value flexibility and want work that makes a real difference to someone's day.
Please note: Alora Living Services provides companionship and non-personal support only. We do not provide personal care, medication administration or any regulated care services. Experience in care settings is welcome, but this role does not involve personal care tasks.
Responsibilities
- Providing companionship and engaging in meaningful conversation to support social and emotional wellbeing
- Accompanying clients on outings, social events, appointments and walks
- Assisting with shopping and everyday errands
- Providing light household support such as tidying, laundry and simple meal preparation
- Helping clients stay socially connected — arranging visits, hobbies and activities they enjoy
- Offering reassuring evening companionship and non-personal sitting support
- Providing a friendly, consistent presence and raising any general concerns with the office
Qualifications
- A warm, patient and genuinely compassionate nature
- Excellent communication and listening skills
- Reliable, punctual and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently
- Previous experience in companionship, home support or a caring role is desirable but not essential — attitude matters most
- Comfortable with light household tasks
- A valid UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle is preferred but not mandatory. Companions who drive may support short local outings and appointments

This is a self-employed role (a contract for services, not employment). You will be responsible for your own tax and National Insurance.
All companions complete an enhanced DBS check and provide references before starting — we will guide you through the process.
This role is strictly companionship and non-personal support. It does not involve personal care, assistance with washing or dressing, medication administration, or any clinical or health-monitoring duties.
