We are looking for an experienced and driven Head Chef with a genuine passion for food and the ambition to one day run their own business.
Working alongside our chef-owner, you will initially focus on developing the food side of the business, building a strong kitchen team and creating a successful, self-sufficient kitchen operation.
For the right person, this role could develop into an opportunity to learn every aspect of the business and eventually take control of the entire operation. The current owners intend to step back from day-to-day management, with the long-term aim of transitioning the business through a partnership, lease or potential sale within the next five years.
We are a traditional country pub with a strong reputation for good food. Over the past five years, we have grown into a thriving and well-supported business with a strong turnover, approximately 70% of which currently comes from drink sales. This presents a significant opportunity to develop our food offering and increase the contribution from food sales.
We have invested heavily in the pub, including opening a new restaurant and second bar area, as well as refurbishing the entire premises.
For the initial role, we are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Head Chef who can fit well within our energetic, close-knit team. We want to improve our food offering while increasing profitability, which will require strong kitchen management, high standards and excellent organisation.
The successful candidate will be able to adapt and develop the offering proactively, bringing fresh ideas that keep it relevant, appealing and profitable.
The starting salary will be reviewed regularly, with clear opportunities for increases based on individual contribution, profitability and business growth.
The position is normally worked over four days, from Thursday to Sunday, with an occasional fifth day for preparation. The standard working week is approximately 40 hours.
This is not currently a live-in position.
Our kitchen is open from Thursday evening until early Sunday evening, allowing the kitchen team to enjoy a proper break at the beginning of each week.
We are a privately owned and managed business with plans to continue improving and developing. We are looking for someone who wants to commit their energy and ideas to the business, enjoy being part of its growth and share in its continued success.
We welcome prospective applicants to visit the pub and get a feel for what we are all about. Please feel free to introduce yourself and have a quick chat before or after submitting your CV.
We aim to contact applicants within 24 hours and arrange an interview shortly afterwards.
