The Global Repair and Overhaul Engineering (GROE) team has an immediate opening for the newly created position of Mechanical Engineering Expert (Sr Advanced Mech Design Engr). The position is responsible for providing technical product expertise and support for GROE engineers across the Yeovil shop, sustaining and growing Honeywell’s Aerospace Aftermarket business.
The position is in Honeywell Yeovil and includes daily collaboration with staff distributed globally at different product centres, factories, and service centres. The GROE team is focused on improving supply chain performance by maintaining and improving designs for products and improving process currently used in the aftermarket phase.

Control Systems develops the thermal and motion control systems that help aircraft take off, land safely and protect the people on board. With more than 10 million passengers per day flying on aircraft equipped with our products and more than 75% of commercial flights beginning with our engine start systems, Control Systems reaches farther across the aviation industry than most people realize.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary GROE Mechanical technical focal point for the Barmouth and Yeovil sites.
- Lead and coordinate engineering priorities, projects, engineering requests, CAPEX activities, and operational improvements across both locations.
- Drive backlog, TAT, past due, and delivery recovery initiatives.
- Consolidate and report KPI performance, project status, risks, and milestones for Mechanical EMEA.
- Partner with site leadership to align engineering activities with business objectives.
- Lead cross-site collaboration, standardisation, and knowledge sharing.
- Prepare and present performance updates, project reviews, and MOR content to leadership.
- Ensure technical issues, risks, and recovery actions are tracked, owned, and escalated appropriately.
Key Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Systems, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 7 years' experience in aerospace, aviation, MRO, energy or mechanical engineering.
- Knowledge of aircraft mechanical systems, hydraulics, environmental control systems, or life support systems.
- Design experience with the ability to understand product design requirements and translate them into engineering solutions and operational support activities.
- Experience leading engineering projects, technical programmes, or operational improvement initiatives.
- Familiarity with aerospace qualification, testing, and engineering processes would be an advantage.
- Strong problem-solving, organisational, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work independently and influence teams without direct line-management responsibility.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience using KPIs to drive performance, delivery, quality, and continuous improvement.
