Compliance Manager – Torque

If so, Torque has an exciting opportunity for a Compliance Manager to join our team based at our Leeds (Wortley) Head Office.
About the Role
As a Compliance Manager at Torque, you'll play a key role in protecting and supporting the business by ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and industry requirements. You'll work closely with leaders across the organisation to develop robust policies, drive best practice, and maintain the highest standards of governance.
This is a varied and influential role where you'll balance day-to-day compliance management with leading projects and initiatives that strengthen our systems, processes, and overall business resilience.
What You'll Do
> Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and compliance frameworks in line with legislative and regulatory requirements.
> Partner with senior leaders to implement compliance initiatives and promote best practice across the business.
> Lead internal compliance audits covering areas including Right to Work, agency labour, modern slavery, GDPR, and ethical trading standards.
> Manage and coordinate all external audits, ensuring successful outcomes and ongoing compliance.
> Act as the subject matter expert for compliance matters, including GDPR, Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs), non-conformances, and related training.
> Lead compliance activities relating to the Data Protection Act 2018, Data (Use and Access) legislation, and ICO best practice guidance.
> Produce and analyse compliance-related data and reporting, including diversity and workforce metrics.
> Support and administer ISO standards and requirements, ensuring actions are completed and business continuity plans remain up to date.
> Maintain document control processes to ensure policies, procedures, and forms are accurately version-controlled and regularly reviewed.
> Manage agency contracts and supplier compliance records, ensuring documentation remains current and compliant.
> Investigate and resolve agency worker compliance issues, including AWR compliance and audit findings.
> Review and update employment-related documentation to reflect legislative changes and evolving business requirements.
> Support Company Secretarial activities, including Companies House filings and compliance with the Companies Act.
> Build effective relationships with regulatory bodies, auditors, customers, and external stakeholders.
> Compile and provide compliance information required for insurance renewals, claims management, and market reviews.
> Prepare compliance documentation, policies, and business data to support customer tenders and business development opportunities.
What We're Looking For
>Previous experience in a Compliance Manager, Compliance Officer, Governance, Risk, or similar role.
> Strong knowledge of compliance frameworks, governance, data protection legislation, and regulatory requirements.
> Experience leading internal and external audits.
> Understanding of GDPR, data protection principles, and compliance best practice.
> Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
> Ability to analyse information and present clear, practical recommendations.
> Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the confidence to influence at all levels.
> Proactive, solutions-focused, and able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
> Experience within a logistics, supply chain, warehousing, or operational environment would be advantageous.
